This replaced a pellet stove in my living room. The pellet stove was just too large and very loud, plus it didn't work when the power was off.
These are poorly packed, and the first one arrived dented. The second was in perfect condition. Installation is easy, but in no way would I mount this to drywall or wallpaper! The back and top get so hot you can't touch them. I installed a custom steel panel to the wall first, which was coated in copper as part of my decor. I have no worries about heat now. It would be nice to see the back of this unit insulated like other brands are, which would control the heat escaping to the rear.
This runs about 2 hours and produces real heat. It will actually produce as much or more as my pellet stove did on low, and it makes zero noise and works when the power is out. I plan on putting one of those ecofans on the top to distribute the heat better.
Be very careful with the fuel. It is 100% alcohol so don't spill and never add fuel until the burner is stone cold. A flashback into the fuel bottle could kill you. It gives off a slight smell when first used, which I imagine this is from the paint curing. It is not cheap to run so don't plan on this being used daily unless money is no object.
I would like to see better packing, an adjustable burner and better insulation behind the unit. Otherwise it's a great fireplace that can be easily worked into your room's decor. I have posted a photo to show mine installed and in action.
