Product Description
A Lava Heat Italia Heater is not only a statement of style and elegance but is the virtue of functionality as well. Standing nearly eight feet tall, the impressive engineering and design is second only to the heat and ambient lighting provided by the unit. Radiating up to 41,000 BTU and showing off an adjustable, elegant flame in its weather-tight, Borosilicate, shatter-resistant glass tube, the Lava Heat Italia provides comfort and light throughout the year no matter the weather. The tube is secured within the "Safe to Touch" powder-coated steel safety grill to keep hands at bay. The Flame height and heat output are adjusted by the included remote control or from the easy-start manual push ignition and control panel located on the device. Constructed of all metal parts and components. Operates on a standard propane tank (purchase separately) which stores in the base. Safey "tip-over" switch disconnects the gas supply should the unit be knocked over. "Flame Failure" protection means if the flame is blown out or extinguished, the gase supply is automatically disconnected. CSA certified.

The heater arrived well packaged and in good condition. The little assembly required was easy.
The heater has three heat settings which correspond with three flame heights. Unfortunately when the unit is on high the flame only rises to a point between half and three quarters of the way up the glass tube on mine which does not maximize the visual appearance of the unit. There is no adjustment on the gas regulator to improve both the heater's performance and its visual effect and in talking to several propane gas parts suppliers, there is no low pressure adjustable regulator on the market to improve what appears to be an engineering or quality control oversight.
The manufacturer has a video on their website which shows several heaters in use and at least a couple of them show the flame going all the way to the top of the glass tube which maximizes the visual effect of the unit. My call to their technical department about my issue resulted in them saying they have not received a complaint like this so they referred me to a gas technician who I called and left a message for but there was no call back. They asked me to send some pictures which I took, but when I e-mailed them for their address to attach the pictures there was no response. A few days later I sent another e-mail about the lack of contact from their referral and them not providing their e-mail address and there was still no response.
There is certainly a need for improvement in customer service here and it is apparent that the maximum flame heights likely vary from one heater to the next so you pay your money and take your chances.

By flipnotrab
I have 2 of these units. Only one of the remotes EVER worked and they promised me they would send a new one and they did not. One unit needed a new gas valve already and it was like pulling teeth to get them to honor the "so called" great warranty. My friend has since bought three of the cheaper units not under this brand name and they have worked GREAT, no issues at all. Oh, and its made in China and has NOTHING "Italia" about it.

The Italia lava heat g2 is very pleasing to the eye. I bought 3 of them for our terrace but all the members did was complain that they do not put out any heat. The 61,000 btu's is very misleading. I have some heaters that put out 25,000 btu's and put out more heat but are not as eye catching. The company also does not include a gas regulator for the lp. I had to hire a hvac tech to get the right regulator because the gas is measured in mbars vs water column. The first three were shipped damaged and sent back. The next three I sent back because of the lack of heat. I have had a bad experience with the product and could not recommend at all.
